An American In Manila

I have an American friend who had been staying in Marikina City for more than a year now but he had never been to Manila. I met him quite a few weeks ago through my job and we sort of hit it off as friends. So now, I am trying to familiarize him around Manila and quite frankly, these are his rather funny but eye-rolling remarks:

Binondo – It's dirty here.

Malate Area – I'll walk here as long as I walk with you because you know the place, and probably the people too.

Taft Avenue – So, are we getting near the nicer place? (Nicer place means Makati)

PingYang Chinese Hotpot Restaurant – I love this place! It has a feel of Hongkong in it.
(But of course, Rye. We are surrounded by a lot of Chinese people and they have the best dumplings in the Metro – Hongkong style.)

I promised to bring him to a Yakitori-ya in Remedios, Malate next time and I wonder what his reaction would be. People eat on tables set in the street with the grill joint having only a single, terribly smelling toilet. But they have the best Japanese skewered food in the metro. I can't wait for that moment. I'm grinning already.
